Towing and Vehicle Release Authorization

Authority to move a vehicle and release it afterwards: who signs, the condition at pickup, the charges and the storage.

Where this comes from

Not a sample we wrote for this page. This is the document the product puts in your account, as a draft, the moment you say what you do.

Name your trade during setupauto repair, towing and detailingand this is waiting for you, already written, in your words, with the blanks marked and the points a lawyer settles flagged for one. Edit it, or paste in what you already use. It is a starting point and not legal advice: the wording is yours to change and your attorney's to check.

How this works for auto repair, towing and detailing

What it asks you to fill in

Read off the document itself, so this list cannot drift away from what the document actually asks for.

business name · guest name · date · vehicle year · vehicle make · vehicle model · vehicle plate · vehicle vin · pickup location · delivery location · invoice number · authority basis · condition notes · charges · storage start · storage rate · release to · lien days

18 blanks. They are filled once per send, from what you already know or from your own system through the API. They go into the document; they do not change its wording, and what somebody signed is the version they were shown.

What a lawyer has to settle

These are the notes already written into the document, not our opinion about the law where you operate. The product refuses to send a document with one still in it, which is the point of them.

check what disclosure and consent the towing rules where you operate require before a recovery, and what may not be disclaimed.

check the storage-lien, notice and sale procedure where you operate, and the disclosures a tow operator must make at the roadside.

SignSealer does not give legal advice and this document is not legal advice. What it does is put the questions in front of you before somebody signs, rather than after.

The document

The real text, with the blanks shown as blanks and the notes above lifted out so they are read rather than skimmed past.

Towing and Vehicle Release Authorization

business nameguest name, on date. Vehicle: vehicle year vehicle make vehicle model, plate vehicle plate, VIN vehicle vin. From pickup location to delivery location. Invoice invoice number.

1. Who I am. I am the owner of the vehicle, or I am authorised by the owner or the insurer to have it moved and to sign this. Authority: authority basis.

2. What I am authorising. The tow described, including hooking, winching or recovery as needed, and entry to the vehicle to put it in neutral, release a brake or steer it. I authorise business name to move the vehicle to the delivery location and to leave it there.

3. Condition. The vehicle's condition before the tow is recorded here: condition notes, together with the photographs taken at pickup, which are kept with this record. Damage not recorded here is treated as pre-existing.

4. The risks of recovery. I understand that a vehicle that is stuck, wrecked, lowered, modified, all-wheel drive, or in a difficult position may be damaged during a recovery that is carried out properly, including to bumpers, air dams, undertrays and driveline. I accept that risk where the operator uses reasonable care.

5. Property in the vehicle. Anything in the vehicle stays my responsibility. I have removed what I need, and business name is not responsible for property left in it.

6. Charges. The tow, mileage, recovery time, after-hours call-out and any storage are charged as set here: charges. Storage runs from storage start at storage rate per day. Charges are due on release unless an insurer has agreed to pay them directly.

7. Release of the vehicle. The vehicle is released to me or to the person named here — release to — on proof of identity and ownership and on payment of what is due. If somebody else collects it, I authorise that release by naming them here.

8. Uncollected vehicles. A vehicle left beyond lien days days is dealt with under the law's procedure for uncollected vehicles, after the notice that procedure requires.

By signing I authorise the tow described, and I confirm that I have read this and meant to sign it.
